At least 29 insurgents were killed and 18 others were wounded during an Afghan security forces clearing operation in past 24 hours around the country, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI) statement.

The Afghan security operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Takhar, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Kandahar, Zabul, Urozgan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Ghazni, Paktia, Herat, Farah and Helmand provinces.

The statement stated that three other insurgents were detained during the operation and that weapons and ammunition were confiscated.

The operation was conducted to clear the provinces of insurgents.
